Why Collective Impact Matters to the NCSSD

At the National Council of School Safety Directors (NCSSD), our role is to advocate for and support the people who implement safety and security measures in our schools every day. We are keenly aware that the measures we take will have an impact on all the other operational aspects in a school. We acknowledge the necessity of a balanced approach to create a safe, secure, and educationally effective school environment. Accomplishing this requires cross-disciplinary understanding, cooperation, and coordination. We, at the NCSSD, embrace that challenge.
Our membership is responsible daily for two of our society’s most valuable assets; the children who are our future and the educators and institutions where they learn and grow. We believe that school security must integrate seamlessly with all the other operational elements required to meet the educational mission of teaching and learning. Anything less puts a school at risk for a potential catastrophic security failure.
Our organization joined the editorial board of The School Safety Leadership Journal to help foster the collective impact that mission-aligned organizations coming from different perspectives can create.
